KINETIK Space is a space robotic start up based in the Munich region, Germany. Founded by an expert team from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) with decades of experience in real space robotic operations in orbit on board the International Space Station (ISS) and deep space exploration. We offer an array of intelligent space robotic solutions of manipulators and end effectors. The KINETIK Space Robotic Technology is backed by a continuing close collaboration with DLR, along with its decades of space robotics development and operations. Our mission is to bring this cutting-edge technology and know-how to the rapidly growing space sector, for both agency clients, as well as commercial partners such as launchers and satellite operators.

In the Electronic Systems department, we develop and manufacture electronic units for robotic systems. We are looking for you to support our expert team in highly integrated electronics development, testing and integration. What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, development for our electronic systems (analog and digital electronics, electronic development)
  • Creation of circuit board schematics and layouts
  • Simulation and analysis of circuits
  • Organization of the board level testing activities
  • Testing of circuits/assemblies
  • Definition of verification & validation (V&V) logic at system level
  • Support of the procurement activities
  • Creation of technical documents and analyses for the higher-level (Design Definition files, analysis report, Justification File)
  • Creating and managing component symbols and footprints/decals for our ECAD system

Relevant skills

Required:

  • Completed studies in electrical engineering / technician in electrical engineering/ technician in mechatronics or comparable qualification.
  • Experience in using ECAD design and PCB layout tools (e.g. Mentor PADS, KiCAD)
  • Fluent in English, in addition German is an asset.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language for controlling automated test setups (C/C++, Python)
  • Strong conceptual skills and a solution-oriented way of working.

Desired:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of electrical development/engineering
  • Experience in the European ECSS space standards desirable (or NASA, JAXA)
  • First practical start-up experiences
  • Knowledge in motor control
  • Knowledge in VHDL/Verilog
  • European citizenship desired for projects with security clearance.
